Rita Simons has revealed that Aleks Shirovs is not the right man for her character Roxy Mitchell. Next week we will see Aleks propose to Roxy but later finds out that she CHEATED on him with Charlie.
Speaking to Inside Soap Simons explained: "Aleks is absolutely not right for Roxy - she doesn't love him. She doesn't even like him, but he has a pulse and a pretty face and some money, and that's all she really cares about because she's always been left on the shelf.
"He came along, showed her attention and she settled, which is what Roxy always does.
"But with Charlie on the scene, Roxy thinks she should be with Aleks because it gets her out of the Charlie situation. So she's kind of using Aleks, really."
On the Roxy and Charlie dynamic, she continued: "The writers say there are feelings between them, but I have a slightly different point of view, because I don't think Roxy really knows what love is. Every man she falls for, she thinks he's 'The One'.
"So it's hard to tell with her, but Charlie is a nice guy and she trusts him. She just doesn't want to hear about his feelings for her right now."

Aleks proposes to Roxy
Next week Aleks will present Roxy with the engagement ring before asking how long she has been sleeping with Charlie. Roxy finds out that Aleks overheard the conversation between her and Charlie at the pub.
On the possibility of a huge showdown scene between the Mitchell sisters, Simons said: "Me and Sam, we love fighting. It's the juicy stuff we want to get our teeth into. Playing nice is boring, so bring it!
"It wouldn't be a fair fight right now, though, what with Ronnie laid up in hospital. But Roxy might even tell Ronnie herself, who knows? There's definitely more to come with this story."
EastEnders revisits the storyline all next week on BBC One.
