Sonia was offered a job outside London, leading the way for the actress to take her maternity leave. We recently see Martin disapprove of his ex-wife leaving, calling her selfish. He soon came around, realising that she should finally put herself first.
With heartbroken Tina not willing to let her go without a fight, Sonia also has to deal with her teenage daughter, Bex. She is angry that her mother is moving away without her, leaving Sonia doubting if she should even go.
Sonia has a chat with Martin, who supports her decision to leave. She later overhears Tina and the rest of the Carter's talking about her. It seems they are more bothered that they will have to step up and look after Sylvie.
Hearing this has made her final decision easier, she only has to deal with her daughter.
Bex decides she never wants to speak to her mother again, but Sonia won't leave Walford without saying goodbye properly. Either way, Sonia leaves Walford for her new life.
