No movie has come anywhere near to having as many EastEnders actors starring in it, but the 1996 classic Beautiful Thing, by Jonathan Harvey and Channel 4, has a mammoth cast of stars that gradually stepped foot into Walford.
Linda Henry played Sandra, a mother who was struggling to make life better for her and her son. Things were made that little more irritating by neighbour Leah, played by Tameka Empson.

The movie received a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, even the New York Times commented saying:"Ms. Henry is wonderful as a woman whose fighting spirit masks a streak of hard-bitten tenderness."
The movie also starred Anna Karen, who went on to play Aunt Sal, Sophie Stanton who went on to play DCI Marsden and of course Scott Neal who played money-grabbing Jase, the toyboy lover of Elaine Peacock.
According to The Sun, the characters are not a far cry from their characters in 'Enders. Leah and Kim sharing traits such as craving the limelight, being loud and funny, Sandra and Shirley both being hard nosed, no nonsense women who would do anything for their families and often struggling with life in general.
But the link to EastEnders doesn't stop there! - When the show was picked up and turned into a play, Charlie Brooks who played Janine Butcher, went on to play the role of Sandra, Danny-Boy Hatchard who played Lee Carter played the role of Ste, the part was later played by Thomas Law, who played Peter Beale.
We're sure if we looked hard enough, there would be many more links but that's one heck of a throwback-Thursday!
