EastEnders have denied recent tabloid rumours that the departure of Sean O’Connor was partly down to Steve McFadden’s refusal to return to work, unless a particular storyline was scrapped.
Some news outlets had reported that Sean was planning on killing off much loved character Billy Mitchell, when apparently Steve got wind of this and kicked up a storm.

An EastEnders spokesperson told The Metro: ‘There is no truth to this story and these alleged conversations have never taken place.’
So when you read this in the papers, rest assure that there have been NO plans to kill Billy off whatsoever.
John Yorke has now replaced Sean O’Connor as Executive Producer of EastEnders.
