With Sean O'Connor's episodes still airing on BBC One, we have been assured that John Yorke's takeover is just around the corner.
John is only returning temporarily to turn the show around, even having his say in who will be the permanent executive producer of the soap.
Speaking to Digital Spy, on the red carpet of the Inside Soap Awards, Gillian Taylforth who plays Kathy Beale, has promised the show is heading for the top spot once again: "We've got some brilliant stuff coming up. Not just for me, but for the show as a whole. The wonderful John Yorke's back and it's really going upwards and upwards." She added: "So beware, you soaps – we're coming back with a vengeance!"
When asked about Christmas in Walford, she teased: "We've got some great stuff for Christmas and we're all involved in it. There's a big thing with all the cast so you'll be really surprised. I think you'll really like it."
Gillian won this years Outstanding Achievement Award.
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
