5 Characters EastEnders Shouldn't Have Killed Off + Poll

Although EastEnders have something of a reputation for bringing back characters from the dead, here are the top 5 characters the soap should never have killed off.


1. Arthur 'Fatboy' Chubb

Fatboy, EastEnders

To this day, Fatboy is one of EastEnders' most loved characters. He was funny and kind-hearted, but this poor young man met his fate when he got mixed up in a feud between the Mitchell's and Hubbard's.

With his body never being seen on TV, fans want the soap to bring him back, asap!

2. Paul Trueman

Longtime viewers will remember Paul Trueman, the troublesome son of Patrick. This character left in the back of a taxi, he was unknowingly being driven to his death. Paul was given an off-screen death and Patrick later had the task of identifying the body.

With the Fox/Trueman family still alive and kicking, Paul would have had no trouble fitting in with Denise and Kim.


3. Angie Watts

Watts Family, EastEnders

It has been nearly 30 years since Angie Watts, the adoptive mother of Sharon, left the show. She was killed off-screen in 2002. The iconic landlady took no punches, she was an alcoholic who adored her family but stopped at nothing for her next drink.

The dynamic in later life, between her and Sharon, could have made for great television. Unfortunately we will never know.

4. Cindy Beale

Cindy Beale, EastEnders

Cindy Beale was one of EastEnders most hated characters. She constantly cheated on husband Ian, even trying to have him killed.

Viewers who have watched from the beginning always felt it was daft to kill such a big character off. Cindy was also killed off-screen, she died in childbirth with Cindy Jr.


5. Dennis Rickman

Dennis Rickman, the secret son of Den Watts first appeared on our screens in 2003. Despite being on the show a little over 2 years, Dennis was loved by man viewers.

Exec producer at the time, Louise Berridge, thought there were too many females in the soap after the arrival of the Slater's, Nigel was brought in to inject some testosterone back into Walford.

Dennis was killed on New Year's Eve by Danny Moon, being stabbed in the middle of the celebration. Now we'll never know what could have been . . .
