As we say goodbye to 2017, the New Year will get off to a huge start with new storylines to get our teeth into. It was also revealed yesterday that John Yorke will be sticking around for an entire year!
Here is a rundown of the new storylines to hit our screens early 2018:
1. Aidan's Big Job Goes Wrong

The first episode of the year will focus on Aidan and his big heist. Currently Mick has pulled out but that will change when Aidan forces Mick to change his mind.
EastEnders bosses have warned that this will all end in tears.
2. Mariam & Arshad Arrive

The extension of Masood's family will arrive in January, aunty Mariam and uncle Arshad are a couple who move to Walford to continue fostering children, something that opens up a huge world of possibilities of new stories.
Apart from the added benefit of having Masood back on our screens, this couple is tipped to bring a whole lot of baggage with them, and we can't wait!
3. Mel Owen Returns

Mel Owen is back and she has a darker side. Speaking about how time has changed Steve Owen's widow, John Yorke said she is "fiery, damaged, and carrying a lot of secrets".
Mel is not coming back to Walford alone, she will be returning with her son, Hunter. It is unknown if Lisa Fowler will follow in her footsteps.
4. Stacey Cheats on Martin

It was revealed today that Stacey will fall for Max Branning's charm once again, sleeping with him this Christmas.
Like many soaps, when a character cheats, it's basically a ticking time bomb. How will Martin find out, and will he forgive her?
5. The Slaters Are Back

Kat Slater is back and she's returning with Mo and Jean! - We have also learned that a new member of the Slater family will be joining her.
John Yorke has promised big storylines with Kat, but we're waiting for the hilarious scenes between Big Mo and Karen Taylor . . . . this has to be a pairing!
6. Alfie Moon's Fate

The fate of Alfie Moon will be revealed, and to give you a clue as to what that might be, Shane Richie is apparently in talks about returning.
Alfie was last seen flatlining on the operating table in the final episode of Redwater.
7. Tiffany Butcher Returns

One of EastEnders' much-loved child stars is coming home to Walford in the New Year, Tiffany Butcher's back and she's not returning quietly.
There hasn't been any information about what brings her back, but being a Butcher/Jackson, she'll certainly bring the drama and comedy.
8. Goodbye Ben Mitchell

Ben has not been on our screens much since his relationship with Luke ended, but we'll be seeing a lot more of him soon before he leaves Walford for good.
Harry has been spotted filming scenes with Tamzin Outhwaite (Mel Owen) in Dover, Kent.
9. Goodbye Johnny

Another Carter child will be leaving Walford in the New Year when Johnny Carter leaves. EastEnders fans have accused the soap of not giving Ted Reilly a proper storyline, but sadly it doesn't look like he will get the chance. Ted has already finished filming his scenes and will leave our screens early 2018.
10. Sharon's Huge Storyline

Fans of Letitia Dean will be relieved to hear that Sharon Mitchell will finally get a huge storyline. John Yorke has confirmed that Sharon's storyline will kick off at the beginning of the year.
11. Karen's Big Storyline

When Karen and her children arrived in Walford, it's fair to say that many viewers didn't warm to the family straight away. Seeing the family struggle to make ends meet, as well as their comedic value has proved extremely popular.
Although nothing has been revealed about the storyline itself, we have heard that the Taylors will get centre stage, and there won't be a bailiff in sight!
12. Whitney's New Love

It looks like Whitney and Woody are well and truly over, John Yorke has promised a new love interest for Whitney Dean.

13. Future of the Queen Vic Revealed

Viewers are still wondering what will happen to the Carters and the Queen Vic. Currently Mick and Linda are preparing to move out of Walford for good.
With the end of Willmott-Brown on the horizon, will they find a way of keeping the pub out of the hands of the developers? - All will be revealed soon!
14. Woody Returns

After ending things with Whitney and jetting off without her, Woody makes his return to Walford soon, but what reception will he receive? - Will Whitney have already moved on?
15. Jay's Biological Father Revealed

The news about Jay Mitchell's biological father not being Jase Dyer seemed to take a backseat when Willmott-Brown arrived on the scene. After his grandfather popped in to see him, nothing has seemed to develop. - We're sure the answers are just around the corner.
