New character Judith arrives in Walford next week following the death of her mother, Joyce Murray. Ted will be left heartbroken and grief stricken when his wife passes away in her sleep later this week.
Young Bernadette Taylor is on hand to help support her friend, even stepping in to help with the funeral arrangements.
When Bernie realises that Ted hasn't told his children, she urges him to pick up the phone and break the news to them.
When Judith later arrives in Walford without her children, Ted is shocked when she takes over the control of the funeral.

Judith is fuming when she finds out how long her mother has been dead, accusing Ted of being a bad father and husband in the process.
When Judith later sees Ted with Bernadette, she loses her temper, telling her father that he shows so much affection towards his teenage neighbour and yet he couldn't even bother with his own children.
