Here's Why You Can't Miss Tonight's Special Episode

EastEnders will air a special episode tonight, the first of its kind will splice together the episode with monologues of real life victims of knife crime.

Real people will speak to the viewer, conveying the effects of knife crime on the victims and their families.


Speaking to Metro.co.uk, ex-EastEnders actress Brooke Kinsella MBE spoke about the episode: ‘I found it intriguing and exciting but I also knew that it needed to be handled so sensitively and carefully and there is that very strange dividing line – how are we going to separate art from real life?

We do try to follow reality as much as possible but we are actors – we are not trying to preach in any way. ‘To put the special contributors in there, I think adds real gravitas.

To show we’re not trying to sensationalise something so serious – let it speak for itself; let these people tell you because there’s nothing more truthful and heartbreaking to see than that. It’s been done with so much authenticity and integrity.


‘Who knows how people will take it? It’s just to really shine a light on the fact that this is happening every day to all sorts of people. We’re able to dramatise it because people are invested in the characters but it’s a way of saying that you just have to turn your head in another direction and seeing that it’s happening everywhere.
