It has been revealed that Kate Oates is joining the BBC, and she will become the senior executive producer for three shows, EastEnders, Casualty and Holby City.

Kate recently stepped down as boss of Emmerdale and Coronation Street, and will take over from John Yorke.

Speaking about joining the BBC, Kate told Digital Spy: "Working across EastEnders, Casualty and Holby City is an amazing opportunity for me to have creative input into three of the UK's leading dramas.

"I'm excited about meeting the teams and talent behind each show and can't wait to get stuck in and tell some unmissable stories."

CCO of BBC Studios, Mark Linsey said: "John will continue to work together with Kate to ensure a smooth handover until the end of the year, and we will be announcing his next role with us in the coming weeks."

Kate joined Emmerdale in 2010, before moving on to Coronation Street in 2016. With a new boss at the helm, expect some more changes in Walford!
