As Mel continues to try and keep herself and Hunter out of the gaze of the police, her plan will fail next week when the body of her husband is discovered.
When Hunter invites Louise over for dinner, they are horrified to hear on the radio that a body has been found in the woods.
Later, the police arrive on Mel's doorstep and ask her to return to the station with them for questioning, leaving Jack wondering if Mel has been telling him the truth.
At the station, it becomes clear that the police suspect Mel as Ray's killer, but when she is asked about her whereabouts on the night of her wedding, she drops Jack in it by saying she was with him.

After using Jack as an alibi, it's not long before the police ask him to corroborate Mel's story. Will he lie for the woman he loves?
Later, Jack demands to know the truth, but when Mel finally reveals the horror that unfolded on her wedding day, a stunned Jack pleads with her to go to the police and tell them everything.
When Jack later agrees to help the mother and son flee Walford, it's not long before the trio realise they are being followed by the police. Did Jack make a quick phone call before they left Albert Square?

Talking to the Metro Tamzin Outhwaite revealed: ‘She uses him as an alibi because he has been the only person that actually kind of trusts her, Mel doesn’t really have any friends on the Square,’ she said.
‘Also, she thinks that Jack still loves her in a way and maybe he would do this for love.
she is at the height of paranoia at that time and all we know is they are following her. They pull over, and Jack tries to reassure Mel and that’s all I can tell you,’ she teased.
