EastEnders recently confirmed that Jean Slater will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in a heartbreaking storyline headed by Gillian Wright who plays the character.
Last night's episode see Jean mention to Ian that she wasn't feeling well, but as her symptoms progress, she decides to pay her GP a visit.
When Jean reveals her symptoms to the doctor, she is told that she'll need to have some further tests done.
As she returns home, she decides to keep the news from her family and friends, but she's later left struggling when she has nobody to talk to.

Later, Jean joins Shirley at E20, but when she's unable to enjoy herself she leaves, leaving Shirley concerned over her behaviour.
Worried, Shirley speaks to Mo about her odd behaviour, but when Jean later finds out, she storms over to the Vic to confront her.
Will Jean tell Shirley why she has been acting out of character? And more importantly, have someone to talk to as she faces difficult times ahead?
EastEnders air these scenes next week on BBC One.
