EastEnders to air Sean Slater's emotional departure tonight

Robert Kazinsky talks EastEnders stint

Viewers experienced a roller-coaster of emotions last week as Sean Slater returned to connect with his mum, and also the love of his life, Roxy Mitchell.

Sadly, he was given the devastating news that Roxy died two years ago, leading up to an emotional showdown between Sean and his mum in Friday's episode.

Unfortunately Sean will leave Walford in tonight's episode. Talking about his departure, actor Robert Kazinsky told the Metro: ‘The Sean we say goodbye to is not in less of a dark place but he knows that he is in one and that’s where we leave him – with the recognition that he needs help and the fortitude that he is going to get it. He wants to get better. He knows he needs to deal with his depression and talk.

‘The Sean who leaves is so different to the Sean who arrives but also exactly the same. There is no resolution but just a recognition that they exist and that’s a huge part of the battle. Happy endings don’t exist in real life. he said.

Robert also revealed that a future return to EastEnders is a possibility: ‘I have missed Sean Slater and maybe I’ll come back one day. I don’t know. We will see what the future holds. There has to be a reason to do it – so long as Lacey and Gillian are in this show, there’s a reason to do it.’

EastEnders airs Sean's departure tonight, 8pm on BBC One.
