Upcoming scenes will see Iqra Ahmed secretly messaging someone, but next month it is revealed that the character is gay, and messaging other women.

A show insider revealed exclusively to The Sun: “Iqra has been fighting to keep her sexuality quiet, but eventually the truth will emerge.”



EastEnders broke ground in 2009 when they aired a storyline featuring Muslim character Syed Masood, who fell in love with Jane Beale's brother, Christian Clarke. The storyline received many complaints but started the all important debate about same-sex relationships within the Muslim community.

It is thought that as Habiba's on/off fling with Adam Bateman continues, he will become the first person to discover Iqra's secret and use her sexuality against her.
