Viewers already know that someone will lose their life next week when Hunter Owen goes on a rampage, but EastEnders has lined up another death, with the funeral being aired in November.
The identity of the character is being kept a closely guarded secret, but it has promised that viewers will be shocked.
A source told the Daily Mail: "There's going to be tragedy in Walford. Execs had a number of meetings about the storylines they wanted to do this autumn and it was decided it was the right thing to kill someone off.
"They think it will be a good way to keep viewers hooked. And it will keep things fresh."

It has been said that the character's death will happen off screen, but the news will devastate the local residents.
Perry Fenwick (Billy Mitchell), Jamie Borthwick (Jay Brown), Danielle Harold (Lola Pierce) and Max Bowden (Ben Mitchell) were all spotted filming on location last week. Standing by a hearse, Jay and Lola could be seen arguing after a disagreement.
News of the death will follow dramatic scenes which air next week when Hunter goes in search of Jack Branning after stealing the handgun from Mel's bag.
After being disturbed at Jack's by Denise Fox, Hunter heads off to hide out at the Vic during the wedding party. His plan soon spirals out of control leaving one character dead.
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
