EastEnders' 35th anniversary week is lining up to be one of the best the soap has had in recent years. The week of episodes will focus around a single day in Walford, and viewers will be met with some very dramatic scenes.
Speaking about the upcoming specials, EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen revealed to the Metro: “For the 35th anniversary we wanted to entertain the EastEnders audience on the iconic river which has heralded the start of the show for 35 years. This unmissable week of episodes is destined to be exciting, gripping and heart-breaking – it will be a week that will go down in EastEnders history."
Here's a look at what we know is happening:
Queen Vic Boat Party
EastEnders decided to mark the 35th anniversary by having the residents of Albert Sqaure celebrate on a boat on the Thames, quite fitting as the famous river has been used in the opening credits of the soap since its birth in 1985.
Mick and Linda had a brief moment of happiness when they learned their beloved pub has won London's Best Pub 2020, and the prize is an all inclusive boat party on the Thames for them and their regulars.
Sharon Mitchell Gives Birth
During the epic week, Sharon Mitchell will go into labour, giving birth to her child, and given that Sharon is one of the original EastEnders characters, it's the perfect time for her to welcome her new baby. Will Keanu be there to meet his second child? Well . . . .
Keanu Taylor Returns

Last week we revealed that Danny Walters, who plays Keanu Taylor, was spotted filming on the Thames, alongside his EastEnders co-stars. When we last see Keanu, he was at the airport telling his mum that the Mitchell's will get what's coming to them, but we certainly didn't think he meant as early as this!
Death of a Major Character

It was also revealed last week that a major EastEnders character will die after falling from the boat, plunging into the icy river. The victim has not been revealed, but with a huge number of characters involved, it could be a surprise for us all.
So far, the characters revealed to being on board the boat are: Linda, Mick, Dotty, Bex, Kat, Kush, Jack, Denise, Sheree, Max, Tina, Ian, Mo, Tracy, Rainie and Stuart.

Callum Highway Kidnapped!

Callum Highway will see himself caught up in the feud between the Mitchell's and Keanu Taylor. It was revealed that Keanu will kidnap Callum, leaving Stuart in a desperate bid to get to him before it's too late, but how will Ben react when he discovers that Keanu is alive and responsible? The Beale's are another family that have survived since the soap began in 1985, and the anniversary sparks a brand new storyline as Peter Beale returns to Albert Square.
Many viewers believe his return will eventually see Lauren Branning's comeback, but nothing has been confirmed. Would you like to see Lauren again?
