In December EastEnders boss Kate Oates teased that Queen Vic landlords Linda and Mick Carter could split as Linda's spiraling drinking problem persists into the New Year. Kate said to Digital Spy: "What we will see is ultimately how addiction gets in the way of their relationship – Linda is choosing alcohol above her family and that is going to have huge ramifications in terms of can they stay together?
"Can they co-parent Ollie if they break up altogether? Both of them are forced to ask some really challenging questions."

At last night's National Television Awards, Luisa Bradshaw-White who plays Tina, reacted to Kate's comments about the split, saying: "She's lying, she's lying through her teeth." - "They have to get better because they're Mick and Linda and Tina won't survive. They have to get better, they'll get better."
Kellie Bright who plays Linda added: "Things are definitely getting worse for Mick and Linda and they're the worst they've ever been. "It's as bad as they've ever been."
Speaking about the upcoming anniversary week, which sees one character lose their life after falling into the Thames, Kellie teased: "I can tell you that I get wet and that's all I'm allowed to say."
