Jasmine Armfield, who has played Rebecca Fowler since her arrival in 2014, has conformed that she is leaving the soap after 5 years.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Jasmine said: “I’ve had such a fantastic time playing Bex Fowler and loved being part of EastEnders but now feels like the right time to try something new." - "I’ve made friends for life working on the show and shall miss them all.”
Executive producer Jon Sen added: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Jasmine. She’s brought something incredibly special to the role of Bex and we will all miss her - both as a friend and colleague. We wish her the best of luck for the future”
The confirmation of Jasmine's exit will undoubtedly fuel the speculation that Bex is the unfortunate victim of the drowning on the Thames, planned for the anniversary week.

Jasmine, who off screen is very good friends with Tilly Keeper who played Louise Mitchell, announced her departure just weeks after Louise left Walford for good.
When is the anniversary week?
The anniversary week will see the week's episodes based on one 24 hour day, starting on Monday 17th February and running until Friday 20th. It has not yet been revealed if fans will gain an extra Wednesday (19th) episode, seeing as that will be the official birthday of EastEnders.
Jon Sen added: "For the 35th anniversary, we wanted to entertain the EastEnders audience on the iconic river which has heralded the start of the show for 35 years.”
"This unmissable week of episodes is destined to be exciting, gripping and heart-breaking – it will be a week that will go down in EastEnders history."
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
