EastEnders Will Reference Coronavirus in New Scenes, But There's Some Bad News

Here's the sad news we've been dreading about EastEnders coming off air

EastEnders

We revealed yesterday that EastEnders will resume filming within weeks, but many fans were left wondering how it will work with social distancing.

Well, it's simple. EastEnders will reference the Coronavirus pandemic so the characters on screen will be living out their daily lives in the same way we all are. But here's the bad news . . .

Although we now know when EastEnders will resume filming, new guidelines will mean it will take longer to shoot scenes and edit them, so unfortunately there will be a period of time where our favourite London soap will not be on tv at all, for the first time in its history.

Producers are currently in the early stages of working out how to get everyone working, without compromising their health. The cast will be given make-up tutorials by professional hair and make-up artists, and there will be fewer extras on set.

Although the pandemic will be referenced, it is not thought to be part of a bigger storyline.

EastEnders airs twice weekly on BBC One.
