EastEnders Today revealed they will air a special episode of the soap as it follows Ben Mitchell on his journey after losing his hearing.
The episode will be seen entirely from Ben's perspective, and take place as he
gears up to help his dad, Phil, on his new job.
Viewers will, at times, experience limited audio and subtitles will be used
instead. The storyline highlights what many people in the UK experience on a
daily basis.
As the day of the job arrives, things begin to spiral out of control and Ben
finds himself out of his depth.

EastEnders has been working closely with the National Deaf Children’s Society, audiologists and experts from all over the country, in order to create a realistic storyline.
Executive producer Jon Sen said: "The story of Ben's struggle with his
deafness has given us a gripping insight into his character. This special
point of view episode is a ground-breaking episode unlike any other attempted
in the history of EastEnders.
"Helmed by a compelling performance by Max Bowden, it allows the audience the
opportunity to experience the world through Ben’s eyes and ears – a story
communicated purely by his dialogue and the snatched words of those around
him. I am so proud of what the team have achieved and cannot wait for the fans
to see it." he continued.
EastEnders airs twice weekly on BBC One.
