EastEnders has released information on details surrounding the return of
EastEnders to our screens. The Walford based soap will air until Tuesday 16th
June, giving us just two more episodes before it comes off TV for some time.
Cast and crew will be returning to Elstree Studios at the end of this month to
resume filming, and today it has been announced the soap will return to four
episodes a week, but in a bid to get it to our screens as quickly as possible,
soap bosses have taken the decision make each episode 20 minutes long.
EastEnders' executive producer Jon Sen commented: "Resuming production is
incredibly exciting and challenging in equal measure.
"Since we postponed filming, we've been working non-stop trialling techniques,
filming methods and new ways of working so that we can return to screens four
times a week
"Filming will inevitably be a more complex process now, so creating 20 minute
episodes will enable us to ensure that when we return, EastEnders will still
be the show the audience know and love."
The change to the length of episodes will allow soap fans to get their
four-weekly episode fix and will likely last until government restrictions are
lifted, allowing business to eventually return to normal.
More details to follow.
