Shortly before lockdown earlier this year, Max Branning was going through the process of divorcing Rainie Branning, but worried the money tied up with the restaurant he agreed with Ian's suggestion of signing over his share of the business to stop Rainie getting her hands on it.
When Sharon and Ian were revealed as the new owners of the Queen Vic, viewers were left wondering how Ian managed to get his hands on the money so fast, and you're not alone because alarm bells are ringing for Max when we return to Walford next week.
After a chat with Kathy, Max is left feeling concerned over his share in Walford East and sets off to speak to Ian over his new discovery.
A teaser released this month see Max angrily confront Ian saying: "You're unbelievable, Ian. That's my money, Ian! That's every penny. That's everything that I own."
Jake Wood who plays Max also teased: "Max half-owns the restaurant with Ian Beale, but I think, just before lockdown, you saw him sign it over to Ian because he's trying to hide the money from Rainie.
"Because, obviously, the divorce has been finalised, so Ian offers to take on half of the business to prevent Rainie to get half of the divorce money. Max thought it was a great idea at the minute."
