Here's Who Could be Returning to EastEnders this Christmas

With EastEnders returning on Monday, fans are shocked to learn new Christmas details are already being revealed by the soap, including a huge return in time for the festivities. But who could it be?

Here's a list of characters who have been tipped to return this Christmas to spice up a storyline. 

Janine Butcher

Janine Butcher hasn't been seen in Walford for many years, but many believe now is the perfect time to see her return.

The last time we see Janine she was about to board the Eurostar when she met a young couple who were celebrating winning the lottery. Is that a new storyline waiting to happen?

Arthur 'Fatboy' Chubb

Fatboy is one of those characters who fans will always want to see back in EastEnders, and maybe that's partly because the soap fails to acknowledge that no confirmation of Arthur being dead was ever made, just an admission from Vincent Hubbard.

Another huge reason to see Fatboy return is June Brown will be overjoyed. The Dot Branning actor has said over the years that she loved the relationship between Dot and Fatboy and this could be the very thing to get Dot back home in Walford.

Lauren Branning

With Peter Beale back in Walford, many have pleaded with EastEnders to bring back Lauren. As far as we know Lauren and Louie are still living in New Zealand, but with Peter and Lauren's on again/off again relationship, it wouldn't be unreasonable for her to come home.

Jane Beale

Jane Beale another huge character who has a lot of unfinished business in Walford. Firstly there's Max Branning who tried to kill her. Then there's Bobby, her son who put her in a coma.

If Jane stepped out of a taxi at Christmas, that would secure the next 6 months worth of drama in Albert Square for sure.

Dean Wicks

With Danny Dyer hinting at a dark storyline this Christmas, many of you have suggested it could mean the return of rapist Dean Wicks.

Shirley's son Dean was forced out of Walford after being acquitted of rape in 2016. Dean would ruffle the feathers of every member of the Carter family, and for good reason. Would you like to see him return?

Lucas Johnson

Denise Fox's ex-husband Lucas is another character tipped to return this Christmas, especially since her relationship with Jack Branning is going so well. It's soapland!

EastEnders boss Jon Sen teased an upcoming storyline for Denise: "Those Trueman stories are going to really excite. If anybody who knows anything about her history will probably know where we're going with that, the past comes back to haunt you."
