EastEnders Reveals Max Branning Exit Storyline

Bea arrives ahead of Max Branning's departure

EastEnders Reveals Max Branning Exit Storyline

It was announced last year that Jake Wood would be stepping down from his role of Max Branning in order to pursue his career behind the camera.

Viewers have been speculating for months over how the character could leave Walford. EastEnders has now revealed Max's exit storyline.

Max has been depressed following his split from Linda Carter, and next week the character's thoughts will turn to his late daughter, Abi.

While he takes care of baby Abi, he becomes overwhelmed with grief, and his change in behaviour grabs the attention of his brother, Jack.

Although Jack can see his brother is not coping, Jack's attention is focused on finding Denise, who has gone missing.

Feeling like he has nowhere left to turn, Max notices a flyer for a a clairvoyant called Bea. Soon afterwards he makes contact with her. During their session, Max breaks down, clearly unable to cope.

As Jack becomes concerned for his brother, he discusses his worries with Rainie, who sadly only makes matters worse.

Confronting her ex-husband, Rainie insists she's keeping Abi for another night, claiming he isn't fit to look after a baby.

Feeling at his wits end, Max finds comfort in a bottle of whiskey and is later seen stumbling around the square.

It's unknown where this path will lead for Max, but with his exit due to air on our screens in the coming weeks, will he finally find the support he needs?

EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
