EastEnders storylines that nearly happened

A former executive producer of EastEnders has revealed the storylines that nearly made it to our screens. Matthew Robinson, who was the boss of the soap from 1998 - 2000, explained on Walford Web that a number of disasters would have made Walford a completely different place.

Phil Mitchell Goes Blind

The one storyline that shocked us was the idea that bosses planned on Phil Mitchell losing his sight during a tragic bonfire accident.

Thankfully they rolled back on the idea as we're pretty sure we wouldn't have had the last 20 years of gangster Phil if they followed through with the idea.
