Jean Slater has grown closer to Ruby Allen over the last few weeks, despite
her involvement in Stacey's incarceration.
She is currently supporting Ruby who is going through one of the most
difficult times of her life, but Jean is about to get news of her own which
rocks her to her very core.
In scenes airing next week, Jean remains by Ruby's side as she prepares for an
operation, but Martin is forced to step away after Lily reminds him of her
dentist appointment.
When Ruby's procedure is over, Martin arrives and is surprised that Jean has
been with her the entire time.
When they return home from the hospital, Ruby offers to pay Jean for her help,
but after she declines the club owner offers her a day of pampering instead.
After Kat makes her feelings clear about her friendship with Ruby, Jean heads
off for a day of pampering, but things take a dramatic turn when she receives
a telephone call.
EastEnders are keeping tight lipped over the details of the telephone call -
could we be about to revisit Jean's cancer storyline?
