Fans of Shona McGarty have known for some time the actor who plays Whitney Dean has a powerful singing voice, and now it looks like EastEnders writers be about to showcase Shona's talent in an upcoming storyline after casting Kate Robbins.
Kate Robins will be known to some of you as one of the voices behind Spitting Image, or one of her many acting roles. But some of you will know her as the mother of Inbetweeners star Emily Atack.
Kate will arrive in Walford as an old friend of Terry Cant, who calls his old pal after discovering Whitney Dean's singing ability in the Queen Vic.
Kate plays Jen, a no-nonsense music agent who soon decides to make Whitney a star. But does she have what it takes to succeed?
Speaking about joining the soap, Kate said: "I am so excited to be joining EastEnders as Jen, we had a ball filming the scenes. It was surreal to be sat in The Queen Vic for my first scenes with some of the legends of Albert Square. Working alongside the team was a dream and I can't wait to see the scenes on screen."
Jen will arrives in Albert Square next month.
