Meet EastEnders' New Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw

It was announced today that EastEnders boss Jon Sen would be stepping down as executive producer of the soap, making way for someone who's not a stranger to Walford.

Chris Clenshaw previously worked on EastEnders for four years before going on to script edit and story produce the London-set soap.

Chris was a story producer some years ago, helping to create storylines such as Stacey Slater’s postpartum psychosis and matriarch Peggy Mitchell’s final farewell.

Kate Oates will continue to oversee executive producer duties at Elstree until Clenshaw joins EastEnders in January 2022.

Speaking about Chris joining the team at EastEnders, Kate said: "It is with great excitement that we look forward to Chris Clenshaw arriving back in Albert Square, this time at the helm of the show. His love for the programme runs deep, and I know he’s already looking forward to telling fresh and exciting stories and celebrating the very best of our iconic characters."

Speaking about his new position, Chris said: "I’m thrilled to be returning to Walford to work with the hugely talented team on a British institution that, for more than three decades, has given us some of the most memorable moments in popular culture. Becoming the custodian of one of Britain’s greatest dramas is a huge honour."

It's unknown what direction Chris will want to take the soap, but if his past involvement in some of EastEnders' most powerful storylines is anything to go by, it's going to be an exciting ride!
