With all the drama unfolding in Albert Square at the moment, you're forgiven for not noticing the changes made to last week's episodes.
The vast majority of last week's episodes were filmed in the studio, with
almost nothing filmed outside in the square.
The old Albert Square set appeared for the final time earlier this month and
most of the scenes that followed were either filmed indoors, or on location.
The reason for this is because during filming, the soap had to transition from
the old set to the new, including any finishing touches that had to be made.
The brand new set will air on our screens for the first time tonight (Monday 7th March) and later in the week a chase scene involving Gray Atkins will give viewers a tour of the brand new additions to Walford.
Speaking to The Radio Times, director Richard Lynn explained: "Chase
scenes on the old lot would inevitably have gone in one direction only,
because there were so many dead ends. "There is much more flexibility now –
more places for the goodies to hide and the baddies to come together. I'd
really like to do a foot chase in the alleys or back gardens."
