Despite recent attempts for writer's to portray a softer side to Janine
Butcher, viewers should remember what she did over the festive period when she
paid Mick's wife Linda a little visit.
Although Linda has struggled with alcohol addiction, the Vic landlady had
stayed relatively sober for some time up until she met Janine's alter-ego, Judith
Bernstein.
Next week viewers will see the Carter family attend Tina's funeral, but things
take an awkward turn when uninvited Linda makes a surprise appearance.
With things already tense between her and Mick, Linda is shocked when
she sees 'Judith' among the crowd of mourners.
When Mick delivers his eulogy, Linda is shocked further when Janine begins to
console Mick. This leads to Linda storming out of the service and finding
comfort in a bottle of booze.
During an emotionally charged conversation with Sharon Watts, she urges her
friend to have a plan of attack before she storms in and confronts a scheming
Janine.
Sadly when Linda reveals to Mick what Janine done over Christmas, he accuses
her of making the whole story up.
Later, Mick reveals to Janine that he would like to progress their new
relationship further, and a drunk Linda lashes out at Frankie.
Linda's attack on Frankie will only cement Mick's decision to move on from his past, and when Mick reveals to Linda that he and Janine are now a couple, she understands she has an almighty battle on her hands to win back her man.
EastEnders air these scenes next week on BBC One.
