Ben Mitchell has been struggling with his mental health over the last few months since he and a group of friends were victims of a homophobic attack.

Next week Ben's struggles continue when Callum's boss announces he would like Callum to be the face of a new campaign aimed at the LGBT community, something Ben is not too keen on.

Later at The Albert, Ben gets chatting to Kathy's new bar manager, Lewis, who supports the idea of Callum fronting the campaign, and although he gives Callum his blessing Ben is still not on board with the idea.

Determined to sabotage the campaign, Ben takes matters into his own hands, telling Callum's boss that his husband doesn't really want to be a part of it.

Later Callum is furious with Ben after discovering what he has done, but Ben explains his reasons behind it. He's petrified Callum will be attacked again.

On a night out, Ben gets frustrated when he hears a group of lads heckling Lewis, and although Lewis shrugs it off Ben is full of rage and follows the group, thankfully he is stopped in his tracks by Kim Fox.

The following day Ben's rage resurfaces when he spots Steve, one of the guys from the night before. Ben drags him into the alleyway and attacks him.

It's not long before he's interrupted by Sharon who is gobsmacked when she sees what Ben has done.

Sharon tells him that he needs help to control his anger, and hoping not to make matters worse, Sharon covers for Ben by lying to Callum.

As Sharon continues to worry, she goes to see Kat and urges her to keep Ben away from Phil's businesses, explaining he's far too fragile to take on much responsibility, but Kat ignores her.

Getting nowhere with Kat, Sharon goes behind her back and visits Phil in prison. She explains everything and suggests he talks to DCI Keeble and revisits the deal they originally offered him.

Will Phil take the deal in order to return home and support his son?

EastEnders air these scenes next week on BBC One.
