New planning proposals submitted by the BBC have revealed the old Albert Square set is to be demolished after falling into disrepair.
The set which has been Albert Square since its creation in the 1980's, hasn't been maintained by the studio since moving to the new set earlier this year.
The old set see legends such as Dot Cotton, Peggy Mitchell and Pat Butcher all become household names, but the idea of opening up the set for tours, sadly didn't go any further than an idea.
A BBC spokesperson told Digital Spy: “In line with previously documented plans, the site is no longer being maintained and so is being cleared for health and safety reasons.”
Subject to planning permission, the BBC is yet to reveal what it will do with the site once demolition has been complete.
