EastEnders has revealed the full details surrounding Alfie's shock ordeal airing next week after a prank he's set to pull on Phil Mitchell backfires spectacularly.
Determined to prove to Kat he can be responsible while she's away, looking after the cab office and their children, Alfie plays a game with the twins as they all try to guess the combination to Phil's wall safe.
When they finally open the safe, Alfie is shocked to find a large amount of cash inside, but orders Bert and Ernie to put it back.
Later, as Alfie struggles to deal with issues at the cab office, he tries to keep the children happy by promising to buy Tommy a video game he desperately wants.
When Mitch's cab breaks down, Alfie steps in to drive Vi to bingo, but after dropping her off he's horrified when an armed gunman jumps into his car.
With the gun pointed at him, Keith the robber explains to Alfie that he's just robbed a bank and Alfie is now his getaway driver.
Despite the danger he's in, Alfie is determined to get Tommy the video game he promised and goes on a diversion to the game shop.
After getting Tommy's game, Alfie drives the robber to where he wants to go, but things take a turn when Stacey calls and reveals she knows about the safe game.
Keith the robber overhears the conversation, and when he hears the safe contains £30,000, he orders Alfie to take him to Phil's house.
Speaking about the dramatic scenes airing next week, Shane Richie who plays him told Digital Spy: "Alfie is doing anything to wind Phil up. There's no intention to really try getting into the safe – he's not really bothered about what's in the safe. It's just a game to play with the kids, a guessing game.
"When they eventually get into the safe, it's the start of dominos falling to push the story forward." he said.
What will Alfie do? Will he take him to Phil's house and empty the safe knowing what the repercussions will be? If he refuses, what will Keith do?
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One.
