You would be forgiven for forgetting that Whitney Dean's brother, Ryan, is the biological father of Stacey Slater's daughter Lily as it's been a while.
When it was revealed Ryan and Stacey's 12-year-old daughter was pregnant, fans were screaming at their screens to see the character return, and thankfully it seems the writers had the same idea!
Ryan was last seen in 2016, but is now living in Wakefield with his wife, prison officer Helen. It has been revealed that his short stint on the show will be a dramatic one.
Speaking about his upcoming arrival, actor Neil McDermott said: "When I heard what the story was I was really pleased that the stars aligned and I was able to revisit Ryan and set foot back on the Square.
"It was so lovely to see so many old friends and to work with Shona [McGarty] and Lacey [Turner] again, as well as to meet and work with Ryan's daughter, played beautifully by Lillia [Turner]."
Exec producer Chris Clenshaw is extremely excited to have the character return, adding: "Although we haven't seen Ryan for some years, his character is still intertwined in the history of two of the show's major characters, Stacey and Whitney. We couldn't be more thrilled to have him back for a short while as he's thrust into the heart of the drama."
Long-term fans of the show will remember Ryan first appeared on our screens way back in 2009 when he soon married Janine Butcher, but their marriage ended dramatically following his affair with Stacey Slater.
Another huge storyline see the character imprisoned after going on the run following accidentally murdering his sister's pimp, Rob Grayson.
The new storyline that will see the character return in February, sees Ryan learn of 12-year-old Lily's pregnancy, but how will he take the news?
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer.
