Tanya Branning is making a shock return to Walford.
Jo Joyner will arrive back in Albert Square early next month as part of the show’s 30th anniversary episodes.
Insiders on the BBC1 soap claimed her arrival could provide a big clue to the outcome of the “Who killed Lucy Beale?” saga.
An EastEnders source told the Sunday People: “All of Tanya’s family are suspects in Lucy’s murder – so her return is bound to have a major impact.”
Jo left the soap to spend more time with her twins Freddie and Edie that were born in 2009 after she underwent IVF treatment.
She didn’t have to think twice about returning to the soap’s anniversary week of live shows.

Jo confessed she was still in the dark about the killer’s identity, but was thrilled to be a play role in the murder mystery that has teased viewers for nearly a year.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the 30-year celebrations. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone again, no matter how briefly. I hope I didn’t kill Lucy!”
Jo’s character featured in a string of big storylines – and helped win the actress a host of awards, including two British Soap Awards for best dramatic performance.
The Christmas Day episode in 2007 when Tanya discovered husband Max’s affair with Stacey (Lacey Turner) was watched by 14.3million viewers – the most watched TV show that year.

Tanya left the square in June 2013 after realising her toxic marriage with Max (Jake Wood) was poisoning their children.
And her shock comeback will certainly ruffle a few feathers.
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: “Tanya and Max’s rows were legendary and it’s going to be thrilling to watch Jo and Jake go head-to-head again – but this time live.”
Her return to Walford will initially be for two episodes as she comes back to celebrate friend Jane’s re-­marriage to Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) .
The murderer of Lucy Beale (Hetty Bywater) will be revealed in a special flashback episode next month.
Bookies make Tanya a 100/1 outside bet to be Lucy’s killer with Abi Branning the 9/4 favourite.
