So, we had a feeling that EastEnders would get a few complaints about Ben and Paul's fumble in the funeral parlour but it seems the complaints were more about the implied gay sex rather than the fact they were fooling around next to a dead body.
The UK TV Watchdog received around 50 complaints about the scene. A spokesman from Ofcom said the episode that they received the complaints about the episode that aired on July 17, which included a sequence in which two male characters seemingly enjoyed a secret liaison next to the body of a dead woman in a funeral parlor. The pair was seen wearing just their underwear and embracing before a knock on the door.
An episode that aired last year which implied a rape received 90 complaints>
a BBC spokeswoman said that fans of the show "know and expect dramatic storylines" and that the scenes in the funeral parlor were "implied and not explicit." Ofcom has said it will look into the issue before deciding whether to investigate.

I bet the same people complaining are the same people who happily sit & watch an "implied" murder and say nothing. If you can't move with the times then you're probably best not watching any tv shows at all. I seriously can't get my head around the fact that people are actually picking up the phone to submit a complaint against a soap opera scene?! Bizarre! And extremely sad, get a life!

ReplyDeleteAll these people do is moan about stuff! If you don't like it then switch off and go the pub - they would probably moan about that too! Get a grip people it is a soap... start complaining about things that matter like cruelty to animals or children!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes i agree in a way they shouldn't of done it near a dead body as your suppose to respect the dead,people do it where ever these days such as park,graveyard etc were not all perfect if you dont like what the soaps do then dont watch them simple

ReplyDeleteThey do story lines like these to show what actually happens in the world, for example the character 'Linda' getting sexual assaulted by the character 'Dean'. This sence awares the audience what could happen, well actually happens to innocent people.
