Homophobic Tweets Get EastEnders Fans Fuming! - (Caution: Language May Cause Offence)

EastEnders has has a long history when it comes to getting certain situations into the limelight. The first gay kiss on the soap was between Barry and Colin, way back in 1987!

It seems, nearly THIRTY years later, a small number of viewers are still not happy. The keyboard warriors have taken to social media many times this year, especially when the relationship between Paul and Ben became more public.

Fans of the show took to twitter to show support, condemning the homophobic tweets. You will also notice, like other soaps, more people seem to complain over same-sex kissing than a soap airing a murder or suggested rape.

Please note, we take a zero tolerance approach to comments made against people's sexuality, race, religion etc. If you ever notice anything that could offend, please email us. We will look into it and permanently remove anyone making derogatory comments, allowing you guys to have a pleasant experience when visiting us.

  5. Dont like it dont watch it. If your going to make a song and dance about it then you dont deserve to be respected because you cant respect other peoples choices and the way they were born. Discrimination is disgusting and ILLEGAL. What if gay guys dont like straight people showing their love and affection on programmes, internet and in the street? Dont see them complaining because its apparently 'the norm' to you ignorant people. Nothing wrong with it pack it in.

    1. exactly, don't watch.. I have nothing against gays, male or female, have family and friends who are, but personally don't want to sit there watching it, so I look away for a few seconds while its happening on tv. what annoys me, is that some men go on about gay men being horrible or what ever they think, but like to watch gay women at it, is it me or is that weird.

  15. If you don't like what you see in any program. Not just Eastenders. Use your remote and watch another channel. Thus us the 21st century. Not Victorian times. Live and let live.

  18. See I don't get offended by these kind of comments as a gay man u get to know the majority of the people making them and I do mean majority are on the down low any way. It really is funny when I see this kind of thing when u know a good 8 out of 10 of them are going behind there girls back risking there family's so they can get a bit of sausage lol. So for anyone who is not liking these comments or gets offended by them remember that little fact next time you see shitnlike this trust me u will see the funny side.
