Max is absolutely determined that Abi can be saved, but his hopes are soon dashed when the second doctor gives Abi the same prognosis.
Struggling to come to terms with the decision he knows he has to make, Max has a heart-to-heart with a nurse who shares her personal experience with him.
To take his mind off things, Max starts to build a cot for Abi's daughter, his grief takes over and he smashes it up in front of Dot and Jack.
The Brannings will gather by Abi's bedside by the end of the week to switch off her life support.
