Football coverage will no longer disrupt EastEnders

The BBC are finally coming up with a plan to keep football fans and soap fans happy as we approach the Euros next month.

When a big sporting events are aired on BBC One, soap fans are usually left with messy schedule changes, but from 14th June the BBC will make EastEnders available on iPlayer before it airs on TV.

While the soap schedule will still be subject to changes on BBC One, during the three week football coverage, from 6am every Monday four new episodes of EastEnders will be available to watch on iPlayer.

Yes you read that right, if you want to, you can binge-watch the full week's worth of new episodes every week!

With four new episodes dropping every Monday, viewers can now decide when to watch their favourite soap.

EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen said: "Giving EastEnders viewers the ability to decide when they drop in on all things Albert Square is something we’re excited about,"

"From indulging them all in one night, staggering across a few days or continuing to watch the episodes play out on BBC One, we hope the endless streaming options on BBC iPlayer keeps viewers content over the next few weeks."

With audience habits changing over the last decade, this new way of delivering the soap will likely become the norm, at least when major sporting events disrupt the usual schedule.
