EastEnders Confirm Male Rape Storyline

It has been revealed that EastEnders will soon kick off an almighty storyline which will see Ben Mitchell become the victim of a sexual assault.

The news comes ten years after the soap refused to tackle the storyline, claiming it was a difficult subject to cover back in 2012.


The storyline has seen producers of the soap working with SurvivorsUK, Survivors Manchester and the Male Survivors Partnership closely, according to The Sun.

Viewers will be shocked to learn that Kathy's new bar manager, Lewis, will be his abuser and cause a whole new trauma for the character who is already struggling with his mental health.

EastEnders Male Rape Storyline Revealed

An insider told the newspaper: "The attack won’t be shown on-screen but viewers will be aware of it happening.”

Speaking of the upcoming storyline, Max Bowden who plays Ben Mitchell said: “I’m honoured to be given this opportunity to tell such an important story.”


Senior Executive Producer Kate Oates revealed: Ben finds Lewis attractive, and thinks of him as a someone who can understand him in a way Callum does not; but that trust is abused when Lewis crosses a line and rapes Ben.
